White Gypsy

White lace, pale fabric and golden ribbons surround a mask traced with dark filigree. An ornate white sphere rests in gloved hands beneath the face, repeating the costume’s delicate patterns. This portrait from the Venice Carnival brings together subtle colors, intricate decoration and the still gaze behind the mask.
