Inescapable Gaze

A red-clad figure faces a feather-framed hand mirror, revealing the masked face in reflection beside the lagoon. Gondolas and mooring poles provide a distinct Venetian backdrop to the richly colored costume. Photographed during the Venice Carnival, the composition connects the reflected gaze with the bright waterfront beyond.
